Unstructured PlayUnstructured play is an important part of childhood development. My senior thesis goal was to find how to reintroduce the traditional elements of play into modern lifestyles. Using peer reviewed articles and books I sought to understand the value and requirements of unstructured play.

My initial concepts sought to empower children to experience unstructured play but upon further review it became apparent that these solutions of "toys" only added structure to play. Rules inhibit unstructured play and I realized I needed to go back to the beginning.
Block PlayBlocks are widely recognized as a child’s first learning toy. While playing, children learn truths about the physical world, gain cognitive development, and improve social interaction through sharing and cooperation. My goal was to create blocks that were interactive, open-ended, and child led.
